Gustav Malja returns to site of career-first car racing win

On June 9, 2012, Gustav Malja pocketed his first-ever car racing career race victory. Winning not just once, but twice, during a memorable weekend in ADAC Formel Masters at Sachsenring, it marked an important moment on a journey which would later see Malja rise through the single-seater ranks to Formula 2.

Having stepped over to sportscars in the Porsche family of one-make cups this season, this weekend sees Malja return to Sachsenring for the very first time since that 2012 breakthrough, as the penultimate Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland round takes centre stage at the challenging German track.

”Sachsenring is a place which will always hold special memories to me. I still remember that weekend in 2012 very fondly, taking both my first and second car racing win on successive days. I haven’t been back since, so I’m looking forward to returning there this weekend. The Porsche will be so different to what I experienced in ADAC Formel Masters in 2012, with so much more weight and raw power. It will be a big challenge to drive around Sachsenring with all its fast corners and crests, but also so much fun, I’m sure!”
